Hey Gracie. I just realized I didn’t read all of this because something strange on my phone. I came back and read it again lol. I especially like the fact that you mention “collective ego.” Since I work in a global company and have many friends everywhere I’ve observed that often. I thought I coined the term, grrr, but I must have heard it somewhere else haha. But yes, when a really good friend from somewhere else tells me how proud they are of their country, I ask “why???” They kind of answer, but really weak. I ask “what things are you proud of?” Well, they really can’t answer it in a sensible way. It’s definitely a collective ego they feel the need to latch on to, to add to their own internal power. Ever see how excited and proud other countries become when one of their own becomes famous in the USA? But, how much do we care if someone from USA becomes famous elsewhere? We couldn’t care less. It’s all about that feeling of pushing yourself in to something superior to add to your own egotism, or whatever. Awesome topic and of benefit for anyone to study to have a more peaceful and sane life I think.
